| Rich in history and tradition, the South
Bay Scooter Club is the oldest Scooter club in the United
States. Established in 1921 the club pursues active ice-boat
racing in the winter-time. The club is located on the
premises of the Bellport Bay Yacht Club in Bellport New
York. A gathering place for ice boaters, it is also one
of Bellport’s most prestigious social venues. |

Welcome to the 2008 Optimist National Regatta website
that we hope will provide you with all the information you need to plan
for a wonderful National Regatta. Please take advantage of the links
to our supporters and sponsors as they are key to providing
you with an enjoyable and successful regatta. While our sailors are competing in what we think is a world class
sailing venue, please take advantage of one of the most popular
summer vacation spots. Long Island has much to offer, from
the Hamptons and the North Fork wineries to the east, to New
York City to the west with miles of Fire Island beaches to the south.

The South Bay Scooter Club meets during the winter months, November thru March, in the Bellport Bay Yacht Club located at the foot of Bellport Lane in Bellport New York. Meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of the month at 8:00 pm.
