For all of you Scooter enthusiasts, a new 33 page manual on “How to Build a Bellport Frostfish Shingle is now available through the
SBSC Store.
The “Bellport Frostfish” shingle is a simple boat to build and can be assembled over a few weekends by anyone with basic wood working skills. The boat sails like a Scooter, using the jib to steer the boat. Pull in the jib sheet and the boat bears off. Let out the jib sheet and she heads up. A truly rudderless rig.
The manual includes detailed instructions, line drawings, eight pages of helpful photographs rigging instructions and a complete parts list of hull and spar materials.
Detailed design information for the sails is provided and the builder should have no problem making the sails through a local sail maker. If you prefer, you may purchase complete sails or cut panels thru the South Bay Scooter Club web site. Send an Email to
orders@ice-scooter.org for information and prices.
